Nine Inch Nails Plan Tour Despite Knocking Soundwave Back

Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor has said that he is looking to negotiate an Australian tour, despite knocking Soundwave back because it wasn't the “right vibe”.

The festival – Australia's biggest metal and punk event – announced its line-up yesterday, with Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold revealed as two of the three headliners.

Many had tipped Nine Inch Nails, who are on the comeback trail, for the event but the festival's promoter AJ Maddah said that the band had knocked him back. Responding to fans on Twitter he said, “Sadly Trent wants to be mainstream now and reach Justin Timberlake's audience.”

He added, “I'm no longer interested in working with them. I happen to like their existing fanbase.”

Reznor appears to have responded to those comments today, posting on Twitter, “Australia: we love you and we're coming. Didn't feel Soundwave was the right vibe for us or our fans – working on a better scenario.”

The band's new album is slated for release Friday 30 August.
