Probably not the kind you're thinking of...

More KISS More KISS

If you hear an American football fan talking about the AFL, don't expect them to know about the ASADA investigation or Joel Selwood's four goals last night.

And if you hear them dropping the names Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, don't be too surprised.

In the United States, the AFL is the Arena Football League, a brand of American Football played indoors, on a smaller field at a faster pace, and KISS have just bought a team.

The LA KISS are the newest team to be a part of the league, which will expand to take in the Los Angeles based side from March of next year. They will be the first new team to join the competition since the Pittsburgh Power became involved back at the start of the 2011 season.

Gene Simmons issued a statement about the band's involvement with the league upon the team's announcement.

“As a fast-paced, high-action band, this partnership with the AFL was an obvious fit for us," he said. “Attending an LA KISS game in 2014 will be similar to a live KISS show, with thrilling, heart-pounding action.”

Funnily enough, all season ticket holders will also receive a free ticket to an upcoming KISS show put on for fans of the team.

This isn't the first time a rock star has been involved in the ownership of an AFL team, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were part-owners of the Philadelphia Soul up until 2010.
