Splendour In The Grass have apologised to punters for the issues which plagued the festival's first day at their new site.

Punters were forced to wait for over four hours to get to and enter the festival site, due to issues with the bus services. Punters in Byron Bay were told they'd be waiting hours because of a hold up at the site and when they did get on a bus were deposited three kilometres away from the gate.

Once walking to the gate there was another wait of over an hour for entry.

Although they haven't replied to theMusic.com.au's request for specific reasons behind the issues, in a statement Splendour's organisers said, “We regret that there have been difficulties for both our Country Club patrons and with bus services.

“We hear you loud and clear and are in the midst of rectifying the issues as best we can. It is our first year at our new home and we feel we laid the best plans, however they have not been executed to the standard Splendour has always prided itself on. The bulk of the weekend is ahead of you and we hope you will enjoy all the splendid things we have planned for you!”

The festival moved to their new North Byron Parklands site this year, after a long battle to get the permissions to hold events on the site. It will also host the inaugural Byron Bay leg of the Falls festival.
