Supergroup Tired Pony Announce Second Album

Indie folk supergroup Tired Pony, formed by Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody, have completed the finishing touches on their sophomore record and have divulged the offering's name, release date and little something about the recording process to tempt fans.

The band is made up of Lightbody, R.E.M. co-founder Peter Buck, Belle & Sebastian drummer Richard Colburn, Iain Archer, Scott McCaughney, Troy Stewart and producer and multi-instrumentalist Garret “Jacknife” Lee, receiving critical acclaim for their 2010 debut record, The Place We Ran From.

The follow-up is titled The Ghost Of The Mountain, and was made from Lightbody's ambition to made an Americana album – his dreams both coming to a reality and altering slightly when the record was recorded in Lee's Californian studio – the band's sound merging soulful Americana, glam, aspects of syth-pop and country to produce the final product.

Much akin to their debut, The Ghost Of The Mountain includes the narrative of two characters dealing with an unforgivable and life-changing act, Lightbody saying their stories were too fun to leave as they were in 2010, also enlisting the help of guest vocalists Bronagh Gallagher, Kim Tapper and well-known actress Minnie Driver to tell the story.

The Ghost And The Mountain will be released Monday 16 August through Polyfor/Universal, but for now Tired Pony tempt you with a preview.
