It used to be invite-only, but now it's open for general sale

From exclusive entry to open invite, Hills Are Alive festival organisers have announced a new two-night boutique music festival over New Years called NYE On The Hill set to kick off this year a short distance from Melbourne.

For the past five years, Hills Are Alive festival has been invite-only with a friends-of-friends guest list, however, the organisers' new event will kick of sale to the public mid-August, providing a showcase of the best up-and-coming acts Australia has to offer.

NYE On The Hill will take place on 'The Farm', 10 minutes from Loch Village and 95 minutes from Melbourne, and kicks off at 2pm Monday 30 December and runs until 2pm Wednesday 1 January with on-site camping.

The 2013 lineup is set to be announced Sunday 11 August, with past performances from Vance Joy, Alpine, DZ Deathrays , New Navy and Saskwatch,  and adding the freedom of excessive crowds over the New Year period and the stunning views on offer, NYE On The Hill may be the perfect place to relax and bring on 2014.

General sale kicks off Sunday 18 August.
