There's some infectious pop at the top of the Fat As Butter bill for 2013, as Gym Class Heroes bring their chart topping, party rocking brand of hip hop and rock to Newcastle to head up the bill. Word is they're only playing this show and a date in Queensland, so you'll need to be there if you want to see their enormous live show.

Bliss N Eso took out the top spot on the ARIA charts for the second time with the release of their latest LP Circus In The Sky, set out on a mammoth national tour in support of it and will now smash the crap out of the festival season; Fat As Butter is one of the first events lucky enough to score an appearance from these legends.

Get your swooning shoes ready; Matt Corby is well and truly back in action,. The singer-songwriter cast off the shackles of being a former Australian Idol contestant and quickly became one of our most celebrated singer-songwriters. He's so well-loved that we'd be a little bit jealous; instead we just prefer to bask in the earthy music he continues to churn out and wait patiently for more.

By the time Fat As Butter rolls around we'll be well familiar with the second album from Boy & Bear, which is out pretty soon. We're already pretty chuffed with what we've heard and can't wait to be across the LP even more so we can sing along when they hit the Fat As Butter stage in 2013.

The 21-year-old electro genius that is Porter Robinson is going to tear Fat As Butter apart, we reckon. His beats are so big, his drops so devastatingly powerful and tunes so fresh and forward thinking that we think some people are going to be completely blown away by what he brings to the stage. You'll be hearing plenty more of him in future years, don't miss him in Newy.

On a different side of electro, Digitalism are one of electro pop's brightest shining lights and the German duo will be coming back to Australia to play  a special DJ set at Fat As Butter in 2013. They're a genre-crossing tour du force and, no matter what they'll play, they're going to make you dance.

If you've caught Booka Shade at any of their recent Australian festival appearances then you're well aware why they must be on your list for 2013's Fat As Butter. If you haven't, then you're in for a treat. The dance music veterans are a veritable playing-encyclopaedia of different electronic styles and they will prove that with a DJ set (and hopefully accompanying visual show) that will have you completely transfixed.

We already knew he'd be in the country at the time, but it didn't click for us that US hip hop brat Mickey Avalon would swing by Newcastle for Fat As Butter while he is here. With a new EP I Get Even tucked under his arm, he'll turn heads and confound plenty when he takes his raw approach to party hip hop to the stage.

Perth hip hop dance dudes Bombs Away will bring their infectious energy to the Newy crowd. The guys have remixed tracks by Cee-Lo Green, Akon, Katy Perry and Mind Electric so we're guessing their set with be a whole lot of mash-up fun.

British India have had a big 2013 with the release of their fourth LP Controller and a stack of gigs across the country. It'll be nice for their fans to see them in the festival setting where they'll no doubt rock out with some of their classics and their new stuff like Plastic Sounvenirs. Expect a tight set from the Melbourne boys.

A rad time will surely be had when The Aston Shuffle DJs hit the decks. These guys have featured on a heap of compilations, remixed everyone from Dizzee Rascal to Sneaky Sound System and they absolutely love playing the festivals slots.

Brit singer-songwriter Cosmo Jarvis will make his second trip Down Under for 2013 and we're sure fans that were wrapped with his eclectic performances back in January will be stoked that he's returning. Floating in and out of pop, r&b and even a bit of hip hop, Jarvis will fit in just perfectly on a FAB bill that appeals to so many different tastes.

Brooke Addamo aka Owl Eyes has been a busy bee this year, especially with the release of her debut album Nightswim. The songstress has really found a niche with the '80s blended indie pop sound and we're sure she'll turn on the charm to the Newcastle crowd when she takes the stage.

Gold Fields will also take the stage at FAB but their set will be a tad different with the guys playing DJ for the set. The band have had a big twelve months, accumulating in the release of their album Black Sun. We reckon this could be one very fun set so make sure you check them out.

Aussie hip hop outfit Spit Syndicate are also celebrating an incredible year so far. There's something effortless about the music these guys put out there and on the back of their 2013 record Sunday Gentleman, they've probably emassed a very passionate fanbase if they didn't already have one.

It was only yesterday that we revealed the brand new track from Sydney trio The Holidays, so we're betting their fans are stoked that they're on the FAB lineup. Fingers crossed punters will be treated to more new music from the indie favourites - a new album is in the pipeline.

The ACT dance-electro pairing known as Peking Duk will make the journey up north for the festival, no doubt with plenty of energetic and pulse-racing tunes to get the party absolutely cranking in tow.

The M-Machine are from San Francisco and are known for having several of their EPs released through dubstep maestro Skrillex's label OWSLA. The outfit have remixed tracks by Passion Pit, Madeon and even Bruno Mars so we're expecting a diverse set from them.

Another local hip hop star on the bill is Sydney rapper Dialectrix. The MC recently released his album The Cold Light Of Day and will be busy promoting it on the road just prior to his appearance at FAB.

Indie rockers Battleships will bring their brand of unique, post-Britpop sound to the stage in Newcastle and we're expecting a solid outing from the Sydney band. They too will be well into the tour circuit before the festival, supporting fellow lineup pals Boy & Bear.

Rounding out the announcement are duo Willow Beats, who have been touring with Gold Fields and Phebe Starr over recent weeks. The pair released their Alchemy EP back in May so fans can look forward to hearing that material live when they hit the stage at the event.
