Tim Baker launches Slow Country Records

Tim Baker, who discovered and was the original manager of The Rubens, has launched a new label Slow Country Records.

The first signing to the imprint are The Mountains, who Baker manages, but he told theMusic.com.au today that he expects to expand the roster in the near future. Slow County Records has signed a distribution deal with MGM.

The label's official line says that, “the current music landscape has become bland and mediocre with Major Labels and PR Agencies flooding the airwaves and interwebs with 'the next big thing'.” The label, “aims to bring records that will sit and stay with you longer than a week.”

Sydney four-piece The Mountains, regulars on the touring circuit recently, will release their debut EP Country Doors Saturday 2 August. It was recorded at Sydney's RECX Studios.
