All 17 members come together for what will be a very special performance.
After the first program announcement for the inaugural Boomerang Festival, there are already plenty of people around the country setting their site on a visit to Northern New South Wales this October. Now we can reveal a very special headlining act who will make that prospect even more appealing.
The Wantok SING SING group were a massive hit of the London Olympics Festival back in 2012 and Boomerang will see the entire 17-piece ensemble get back together to perform Wan Solwara Pipel live on stage.
The members come from all manner of cultures and play an alluring blend of reggae, hip hop and traditional styles of music. The group features the likes of Frank Yamma, Djakapurra, George Telek, Vika and Linda Bull, Airileke, Albert David, Mariwo, Kas Futialo and Tieni Ruapene as well as a whole heap of artists and dancers – everyone in full costume and performing under the musical guidance of the brilliant David Bridie.
They are an exciting addition to what is already an exciting line up. The festival happens at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm (just a tiny bit north of Byron Bay) over the weekend of Friday 4 October – Sunday 6. Grab your tickets from here.
