That indefinite hiatus seems off, by the looks of things.

Earlier this month Bloc Party alluded to the fact they would be going on an “indefinite hiatus” after their July run of shows, but if that is the case, it won't be very long hiatus with the band set to release a new EP on Monday 12 August.

In a surprising turn of events Bloc Party will release The Nextwave Sessions a five track EP featuring songs performed live over the last tour. The tracklist is as follows:

The Nextwave Sessions EP:

1 .Ratchet
2. Obscene
3. French Exit
4. Montreal
5. Children of the Future

The band got together with producer Dan Carey, who has recorded with Chairlift and Bat for Lashes, for the EP. Speaking about the sessions, Bloc Party frontman Kele said the following.

Ratchet was the first song we recorded with Dan. It really came together whilst we were on tour in 2012. We started slipping it into the sets at the start of this year just to try it out and the reactions were insane. We knew we had something special."
