The Aussie label have secured rights to his first two LPs.

More Mac DeMarco More Mac DeMarco

Spunk Records have this afternoon announced they are now the Australian label home to the much hyped jangle-pop singer-songwriter Mac DeMarco and will be releasing both of his albums through the label later this year.

Prolific Montreal youngster blew minds with the release of his debut LP Rock And Roll Night Club towards the end of last year; his slacker pop sounds familiar, but it given a unique, woozy kind of twist that made it so endearing.

He followed that record up very quickly, with his second LP 2 released just months after and garnering a similar level of buzz and plenty of incredibly positive reviews. The swiftness of its release ought not to have surprised anyone; he had been releasing swags of material (including two LPs) as Makeout Videotape for a couple of years before going under his own name.

Both Rock And Roll Night Club and 2 will be released through Spunk on Friday 9 August. The latter is said to feature a series of as-yet-unreleased bonus tracks, which will be confirmed closer to the release date.
