More Big Scary More Big Scary

Melbourne indie outfit Big Scary have signed with US label Barsuk Records just weeks before their latest album Not Art is released.

The duo of Tom Iansek and Jo Syme will be the first Australian act to sign with the label, whose roster includes the likes of Death Cab For Cutie, Menomena, Phantogram and Ra Ra Riot. Not Art is scheduled for release here via Pieater/Inertia on Friday 28 June and it will be available in the US and South America sometime in September.

The pair's second album looks set to have a more broader sound than their debut Vacation, with plenty of hints that hip hop has had an influence on the material.

The band are managed by Tom Fraser and booked in Australia by Village Sounds' Evan Davis.
