The newly launched SBS2 will broadcast the event and an extensive lead-up program.
Tropfest and SBS have this morning announced an exciting partnership that will see the annual film festival broadcast on SBS2 for the next five years.
The partnership kicks off with this year's festival, the network promising to not only broadcast the festival as it happens live on Sunday 8 December, but also scheduling a range of pre-festival content in the lead up to the big event.
This extra content will be run for 13 weeks preceding the event and will feature some of the best cuts from previous Tropfest events both in Australia and around the world, while the on ground coverage of the event will feature red carpet and behind the scenes interviews and footage.
“The SBS 2 audience is a Tropfest audience; diverse, savvy, and culturally aware,” Michael Laverty, Tropfest Managing Director said in a statement announcing the partnership this morning.
