Live entertainment will be a part of the refurbished venue's future.
Oscars Hotels has today confirmed via a press release that they have acquired Sydney's much revered live music venue the Annandale Hotel.
While today's statement was short and somewhat unclear, they did mention that the pub would be refurbished but would continue to have live entertainment as a part of its future.
“The Annandale Hotel will continue to operate under its current format in offering live entertainment with a future objective for the hotel to be refurbished to focus on building a strong regular trade through providing a great food, beverage and entertainment offer,” this afternoon's statement read.
Speaking with theMusic earlier this week, Leichhardt Mayor Darcy Byrne said that he would be insistent that the pub's new owners ensured live music remained a focus of the venue, so that his hopes for a live music precinct on Parramatta Road would remain alive.

“We're sending a message loud and clear through our campaign to transform Parramatta Road into a live music district that we welcome performance venues here," Byrne said. "But more importantly once this plan is put into legislation there will be irresistible financial incentives for licensees, publicans and entrepreneurs to open live music and performance venues here.”
The company said they have acquired the hotel as a part of "a joint venture".
Oscars Hotels currently owns a large number of pubs in and around the Sydney area including the Strattons Hotel, Hotel Sweeneys and Bar Century in the Sydney CBD, Oscars Lounge Bar in Pyrmont, Camperdown Hotel, Southern Cross Hotel in St Peters, Bankstown Hotel, Oscars Sports Hotel also in Bankstown, the Court Tavern Campbelltown and the Towradgi Beach Hotel, Wollongong.
