The kids will be jamming out to the Aussie band all over again.
There has been a great deal of worldwide attention directed towards Random Access Memories, the forthcoming album from French electro masters Daft Punk, and some of this attention has seen the focus directed towards our little pocket of the world.
Thanks to this interview with Rolling Stone we know there's another, even more exciting Australian connection to the new Daft Punk record, a big Australian sample in a song called Contact.
“Except for a snippet of "an Australian rock record" that opens the final track, Contact, Daft Punk foreswore samples entirely,” the story reads.

The Sherbs might not be a household name in Australia, but you can bet that their alter-ego Sherbet remains one of Australia's most iconic groups. Sherbet split in 1979 but by 1980 had reconvened with a new sound and a new name; The Sherbs would go on to enjoy a small amount of American success but practically none whatsoever in their home country.
How do we know The Sherbs will appear on the new Daft Punk LP? Well, it all goes back to an Amsterdam nightclub in 2002, believe it or not… A mammoth DJ set from the Together Tour, featuring Cassisus, DJ Falcon and Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, which you can hear here, ends on a sample of The Sherbs' 1982 single We Ride Tonight.
After Los Angeles based producer Andy Zax said that the only sample on Random Access Memories was by The Sherbs, we were pretty sure we knew what was going down. And the online speculation has been rife.
