EG to become part of new supplement

Melbourne newspaper The Age have today unveiled the changes wringed on their iconic music section EG, which has been replaced by a new supplement today.

Last month theMusic.com.au broke the news that the future of the much-loved guide was in doubt under publisher Fairfax's recent changes around the country. Today's The Age launched their new weekly supplement The Shortlist, which has an emphasis on film and comedy.

The EG is now a three-page music section at the rear of the new supplement, which is largely listings. Regular columns Sticky Carpet, The Crate and The Adventures Of A Naked Man have remained, there are also articles and reviews syndicated from the Sydney Fairfax office.

Editor Amanda Dunn said in an editorial today, “The Shortlist replaces the much-loved EG, which has been part of Melbourne's music scene for 27 years.”
