Glassnote label founder tips local acts for global impact.

Three of the nine acts on the shortlist for this year's The Coopers Amp are set to make huge international splashes, and The Temper Trap are already working on album number three, according to guest speaker Daniel Glass.

Founder of the Glassnote Entertainment Group and one of the music industry's most highly regarded independent executives, Glass was the subject of this year's Amped Up In Conversation discussion and Q&A session.

On the subject of the nine shortlisted acts, which included winners Hermitude, Urthboy, Flume, Tame Impala and The Presets, he said, “There's three artists out of those nine that are about to explode all over the world.”

Glass also said that he felt that the development on the Australian scene was promising. “One thing I've noticed from being here is I think you're loosing the inferiority complex, I think you're losing the chip on your shoulder.

“Just be great, I think you have great artists here. Stop saying 'this will export well' or 'it travels well'... Just be great and be ambitious.”

The Temper Trap, who are signed to Glassnote outside of Australia, are currently demoing for their third album and Glass said that the 'difficult second album' has been a good experience for the outfit.

“The second album experience, whether you think it was a success or a stumble, has put the band in a good mindset... They're in the intense writing stage right now. They're in Australia, but I'm not sure if it's a secret where they are so I won't say it.”
