Randy Blythe, lead singer of renowned metal band Lamb Of God, has had manslaughter charges initially laid against him last year dropped in Prague Municipal Court overnight.

Blythe was arrested in June of last year in relation to an incident that occurred at a Prague club in May of 2010. It was alleged that Blythe pushed 19-year-old Daniel Nosek off the stage, which resulted in the punter abstaining a head injury which would turn out to be fatal.

Following his arrest, Blythe spent over a month in a Czech prison before he was released and allowed to return home to his family in the United States. He was then indicted in December of last year and eventually ordered to face court back in the Czech Republic.

At the hearing, Judge Thomas Kubovec said that Blythe's actions at the show did not constitute a criminal act and encouraged the prosecution to take the case to a civil court if they were seeking compensation, according to The Independent.

Translations from Czech broadsheet daily DNES report Judge Kubovec saying that Nosek failed to understand Blythe's call for greater applause due to a language barrier and, as such, invaded the stage.

Had Blythe been found guilty, he would have faced up to ten years in prison.

An outpouring of joy and relief has flooded through the heavy metal community around the world since the decision was passed down, with a huge number of Blythe's peers and fans expressing their happiness at his freedom

Blythe posted a heartfelt message of thanks on his Instagram page after the hearing, thanking fans but also asking them to keep the family of the deceased in their thoughts.

"I have been found not guilty & acquitted of all charges against me. I am a free man," he wrote.

"Please remember the family of Daniel Nosek in your thoughts & prayers in this difficult time. I only wish for them peace. Thank you for your support."

The band's official twitter account were to the point when announcing the news.
