More The Mavericks More The Mavericks

The annual Gympie Muster is one of the biggest celebrations of country music in Australia and in August 2013 it returns with another stellar bill of international and homegrown talent.

The first announcement has dropped this morning with none other than the relatively recently reformed Tejano rock group The Mavericks in the headline position. The band have just - as in, this week - released their first album in ten years, the excellent In Time, which we've reviewed here. Other internationals on the bill at this point in time include the incredible Sleepy Man Banjo Boys:

As well as the great Kevin Welch - also from the US - and New Zealand country singers the Topp Twins.

As far as Aussies go, Gympie has again secured plenty of the best we have, including Troy Cassar-Daley, Catherine Britt (who recently joined us for an acoustic set), Adam Brand, Sara Storer, Graeme Connors, James Blundell, Mental As Anything, Amber Lawrence, Chelsea Basham, Kaylens Rain, Anne Kirkpatrick, Graham Rodger, Roo Arcus, Kirsty Akers, Reg Poole (OAM), The Bostocks, The Casuarinas, Jeff Brown, Wilson Pickers, Tamara Stewart and Blue Eyes Cry.

There are plenty more acts still to be announced as well as some exciting new changes to the festival, so stay tuned for that.

The event happens from Thursday 22 August through to Sunday 25. You can grab early bird tickets through the Muster website now.
