This Week's Releases

Yep. That time of the week again. Here's some of the albums out this week:

Unknown Mortal Orchestra – II (Jagjaguwar/Inertia)

The new psychedelic slab from ex-Mint Chicks maestro Ruban Neilson is a more cautious but nonetheless compelling exploration of their trademark sound. We also got Neilson’s thoughts on his sophomore effort back in December ’12.

Jim James Regions of Light and Sound of God (Spunk/V2/Cooperative)

This transcendent curveball from the My Morning Jacket mastermind is going to take a lot of his main band’s fans by surprise. No biggie, because it’s a great record in its own right. We also had a chat with the man himself about this new direction.

Delphic Collections (Chimeric/Cooperative)

The Mancunian electronica trio return with a new album that is a bit heavier on the pop melodies and RnB hooks.

Civil CivicRules (Remote Control)

We’re streaming the new record from this Aussie ex-pat duo who met overseas and lay down techy, complex electronica that’s still a whole lotta fun. We shot the shit with bassist and noisenik Ben Green about what makes these guys tick.
