In 2013, the Red Bull Music Academy will be celebrating 15 years since their first event in Berlin, and Australia will be playing host to the very first celebration of the year – seeing De La Soul headline a rocking early January gig at The Standard Hotel.

The New York hip hop legends will be supported by Red Bull Thre3style finalist Typhonic and Brisbane drums and decks duo Rhythm & Cutloose.

Bragging a diverse range of music and a range of live events over the world, the Red Bull Music Academy fosters the growth of successful applicants over two fortnight-long “terms” per year, and RBMA has pegged NYC as its host for 2013, with the main party from April 28 to May 31 and including Melbourne producers Julien Love and Kloke on the bill.

Before that huge celebration, and without the massive cost of flying to the States, you can rock it at The Standard on Saturday 5 January from 8pm – tickets through moshtix.
