11 October 2012 | 4:20 pm | Scott Fitzsimons

Urthboy, Rubens, The Trouble With Templeton, Alpine, Ivan Gough and more to feature

In the lead up the this year's ARIA Awards, ARIA will hold the first ever ARIA Week, a collection of gigs, events and conferences that will run from Monday 26 through to Wednesday 28 November.

Featuring artists like Bertie Blackman, The Rubens, Alpine, Urthboy and Ivan Gough, Street Press Australia – publishers of theMusic.com.au – are stoked to be presenting a showcase alongside MGM, which will feature The Trouble With Templeton and The Falls – with more to be announced.

ARIA Week has evolved from the Awards' desire to be more involved within the emerging Australian music industry and as well as the events listed below, the inaugural Electronic Music Conference will be held in conjunction with the week. Tiësto, Diplo and a range of industry professionals will be speaking.

Today ARIA Chairman and Sony Asia boss Denis Handlin said that they, and partners Destination NSW hope to make the week an annual event.

“Australia is now the sixth biggest music market in the world and we see ARIA Week as a reflection of that,” added ARIA CEO Dan Rosen, “a week-long celebration of the artists and broader music community who are shaping our local industry through unprecedented creativity and innovation.”

The Trouble With Templeton

A highlight of this year's BIGSOUND, Thomas Calder's The Trouble With Templeton have been moving feet and minds in the last 12 months. We're still listening to the Six Months In A Cast track, the video for which we premiered earlier this year. Their record is due out early 2013, and could be an ARIA contender next time around. Just sayin'.

The Falls
Recently announced for the Peats Ridge festival, indie folk duo The Falls originate from Darwin, but now call Sydney home. Really warm, really sweet and really playful. They released their debut EP Hollywood just this August past.
