Temper Trap's Lollapalooza Slot Axed Due To Storm Evacuation

At 3.30pm Saturday, Chicago time, roughly 61,000 revelers who had descended upon Chicago's Grant Park for the annual Lollapalooza were evacuated from the festival as reports of a severe storm forced organisers and emergency personnel to make this huge decision in the interest of public safety.

The evacuation took place roughly an hour before the large storm hit Chicago, with attendees being directed to parking garages that acted as pre-established emergency evacuation shelters. Many punters were more interested in embracing the conditions though, the Chicago Tribune reporting that many concertgoers spent the storm dancing in the rain, while bars and restaurants were overflowing with people not wanting the conditions to spoil their revelry.

By 6pm the gates to the festival were open again, with a revised playing schedule ensuring that the majority of the acts were still able to play. Organisers said that six of the acts scheduled were unable to play – among those acts were Aussies The Temper Trap and Big Day Out visitors Alabama Shakes and B.o.B – but, with the closing time pushed back to 10.30pm, the rest of the acts were given the chance to play.
