More The Janoskians More The Janoskians

In what may be the most interesting development in the industry this weekend, Sony Music Australia have signed The Janoskians to their label.

The group, consisting of brothers Beau, Jai and Luke Brooks,  Daniel 'Skip' Sahyounie and James Yammouni, gained popularity with their numerous prank videos posted on YouTube. Their videos "Awkward Elevator Situations"  and "Ellen's Dance Dare" have both gained over 1 million views, and have 273 000 subscribers to their channel.

“We can't believe the incredible year we have had so far, it's been totally amazing! What started as us playing pranks on our friends has led to us appearing on Ellen...we never thought would happen!" said Beau Brooks on behalf of the group. "Signing with Sony Music is the icing on the cake and we can't wait to get into the studio and start laying down some tracks. We still have to pinch ourselves to believe that this is really happening”.

The Janoskians have also created quite stir during a national tour, attracting 10 000 fans in Sydney and 8000 in Brisbane. Police were forced to shut down the Melbourne event due to  crowd safety concerns.
