Gotye spent a fantastic eight weeks at #1.

More Gotye More Gotye

Gotye has been knocked from the summit of the Billboard Hot 100 in America with, as was predicted, starlet Carly Rae Jepsen taking over with her viral hit Call Me Maybe.

With the full charts to be released tomorrow, Billboard report that Call Me Maybe remains the most dominant digital track, with 296,000 downloads this week meaning the track has clocked up three million overall. The track has enjoyed a strong YouTube presence, partly thanks to a Justin Bieber cover.

Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know, featuring Kimbra, enjoyed eight weeks at the top of the singles chart before this week, a virtually unprecedented stint for an Australian act recently. The track, which will sit at two this week, is still the most played on radio and third in the digital charts with 213,000 downloads this week, a drop of 14 percent.

If you haven't been on YouTube in the last two months, here's Jepsen's track. Listen with caution though, it has a Gotye-level of infectiousness:
