We take a sneak peak inside the studio with Hungry Kids of Hungary
Brisbane indie-pop wunderkinds Hungry Kids of Hungary have been rather quiet of late, bunkered down in Albert's Studios in Sydney with uber-producer Wayne Connolly working on the follow up to their hugely successful debut album and we got a sneak peak inside the camp to make sure that they are actually working. They are.
The band's manager Ben Preece indicated to us that the band had plenty of material to work with when it came to making album number two, so much that they're still in the process of culling it.
“The last 12 months has been incredibly prolific - we had 30-odd demos to work with here and the lads whittled it down and recorded 15, now to cull it further to album length,” he said. “It's beyond exciting to be playing these 15 songs together and they're going have to make tough decisions with this cull. “It has much more of a vintage vibe overall and the sound and songwriting has matured incredibly,” Preece gushed. “I'm proud of them, to say the least.”
With recording finished, the band are now off to Europe where they will mix the record with Simon "Berkfinger" Berckelman in his new Berlin studio and play a few mammoth dates to capitalize on the success they have achieved in European territories.
The band have signed with Steve Zapp of International Talent Booking (ITB), Zapp also looks after Cold War Kids, Biffy Clyro, Editors and Delta Spirit to name a few. While on this, their first proper UK/European tour, the band play The Netherlands' Pinkpop Festival alongside Bruce Springsteen, The Cure, Soundgarden and many more as well as a heap of club dates.
When it comes to a new release, all we could get from their camp was that we will be hearing a new single “very soon” with an album release date still to be confirmed.
