The band have confirmed that they had to reduce the amount their management had originally offered The Dangerous Summer.

More Tonight Alive More Tonight Alive

Sydney's Tonight Alive, arguably Australia's most successful pop punk export of the last  few years, have confirmed to theMusic.com.au that American band The Dangerous Summer pulled out of their support slot after Tonight Alive couldn't afford to pay them their originally quoted fee.

Tonight Alive announced yesterday that The Dangerous Summer would not be performing on the tour and would instead be replaced by the UK's Young Guns. The Dangerous Summer have the unfortunate reputation of missing shows and not finishing tours, having endured their fair share of drama and band luck, but their lead singer AJ Perdomo took to Twitter to claim that their cancellation was forced upon them after their original fee had been reneged.

"They emailed us two weeks before the tour saying they couldn't afford the original offer," he posted.

This evening Tonight Alive's guitarist Whakio Taahi confirmed to theMusic.com.au that his claims were true. He said that the original offer to the band was made by the band's management, Collateral Management.

"At the time we weren't aware of the original offer," Taahi said. "It was a bit ridiculous and we had to make them a new offer which was more feasible to us and the tour."

He said that he couldn't comment further on the situation due to ongoing contract discussions and legal proceedings with the management company.

He added, "We apologise profusely to everyone, especially to The Dangerous Summer" and added that, "Aside from all the bullshit, we think this is going to be a really fun tour."

The band, who theMusic.com.au approached directly given they currently only have a press contact in America, will be joined on the tour by fellow Sydney outfit Totally Unicorn, as well as the UK's Young Guns, who will miss the first three dates of the tour due to their schedule.

The tour is intended to be something of a homecoming for the band, who have enjoyed a stellar 18 months. Signed to Sony in Australia, after the release of their debut album What Are You So Scared Of? they were signed by renowned American label Fearless. They have scored a sought-after slot on the Vans Warped Tour for the summer and have been nominated for a Kerrang! Award.
