The existing Live Nation structure will be renamed Live Nation Australasia, with Michael Coppel set to become the business' President and Chief Executive Officer. Existing Live Nation Australia executives Luke Hede and Roger Field will continue as Vice Presidents - Promotions.
Today Live National's global President and CEO Michael Rapino said, "We have worked with Michael Coppel on a number of tours over the years and are now extremely pleased to be welcoming such a well respected and successful promoter into our international network.”
Referencing the recent IFPI annual report he added, “Australia is the 6th largest music market in the World and an increasingly important touring market for international artists. It represents a significant part of our opportunity for international growth.”
Coppel, who was responsible for the mammoth 58-date Pink arena tour and - according to today's announcement - sells up to 1.7 million tickets annually, added, “I am delighted to be joining Live Nation and look forward to working with Luke, Roger and my current team, together with the touring teams in Los Angeles and London to firmly establish Live Nation as the leading promoter in Australia and New Zealand."
Veterans lead this week's releases with new albums from Tim Rogers & The Bamboos (Album Of The Week) and Daniel Johns plus albums from Ella Thompson, The Vaccines and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
