Acclaimed musician and long-serving member of The Strokes Albert Hammond Jr has announced a four-date run of shows in Australia early next year, his first appearance in the country since before the release of his latest studio full-length, Momentary Masters, back in July.

Hammond will commence his Australian sojourn in Adelaide, at The Gov, on Tuesday 16 February, heading up to Brisbane's Woolly Mammoth on Wednesday 17 February, down to the Oxford Art Factory, in Sydney, on Friday 19 February, and wrap up his trip at Melbourne's Corner Hotel on Sunday 21 February.

Momentary Masters is the maestro's third solo studio effort, following on from 2006's debut work Yours To Keep and 2008 follow-up ¿Cómo Te Llama?. It was recorded in Hammond's home state of New York, in the confines of One Way Studios, a converted barn where creativity was free to flow.

"I feel like the best songs I've written, as soon as I was done, I was like, 'Oh my god, I did it!'" Hammond said in a statement. "But in that split second that it comes, that feeling goes. It's the same thing when you find complete happiness; you find this complete low. I feel like that's what being creative is: it's you bouncing with emotion and what you capture in those bounces. Accept where you are and use it."
