The recent Spicks & Specks specials have been a huge ratings success for ABC and though fans continue to call for the music quiz show to return full time, there is one reason that it simply couldn't happen right now.

Appearing on an all-new episode of The Green Room Podcast with Neil Griffiths, host and all-round legend Adam Hills conceded that his commitments to UK show, The Last Leg, and the fact that he currently lives in London mean that a permanent Spicks & Specks return couldn't be possible.

"At the moment, that's exactly what it is," Hills told host Neil Griffiths.

"The Last Leg is going from strength to strength. The ratings are really strong, especially with everything that's going on at the moment, being able to have a weekly news show that is considered informative.

"A lot of young people turn to us to get their news. We're kind of becoming a bit like what The Daily Show used to be in the US where a lot of people under 30 turn to us at the end of the week to find out what's gone on during the week."

Hills is currently back in his Melbourne home due to the coronavirus outbreak, however he is scheduled to return back to the UK in May to continue filming The Last Leg.

"It's the dream job. I'm in London. I'm making a show that's on air in the UK and in Australia. It's my priority and that's what's making Spicks & Specks hard to do at the moment," Hills said.

"But having said that, my entire year's diary might be out the window right now so I just have to wait and see how that settles."
