Multi-faceted Brisbane-based musician Jeremy Neale may have had to regretfully skip his scheduled appearance at BIGSOUND earlier this month as the result of some dickish inner workings on the part of his appendix, but with health woes behind him, the Velociraptor frontman is setting his sights on the forthcoming release of new, '80s-inspired EP Let Me Go Out In Style this Friday.
The Music is stoked to be hosting the premiere stream of Neale's newest goodies, which come in the form of six new deliciously retro-soaked tracks, three of which — The News, Hold On Together (featuring Phoebe Imhoff) and The Love Calling (featuring Harriette Pilbeam) — you might have already gotten to know by way of their single releases in recent times.
The EP, Neale's follow-up effort to his lauded 2013 debut extended player In Stranger Times, is something of a labour of love — in more ways than one — for the busy music man, having come together with the assistance of four producers, including the esteemed likes of Liam Campbell and Miro Mackie, as well as a raft of guest musicians, all the while canvassing complex personal themes such as "the lingering and residual feelings after a relationship has ended; the ups, downs and general introspection of the space until another begins".

Perhaps most of all, this sense is conveyed in mid-point track The Love Calling, which Neale says he wrote "a long time ago, when [he] was in a very different place".
"Physically, still Brisbane; Emotionally… well, I was disenchanted with the prospects of love," Neale said in a statement of the track, his most recent single.
"Could you really find someone to complete you? Or would you just have to call it at some point and settle down for the purpose of moving on with the next phase of life. Turns out it was one of those naive things when you haven't yet realised that there's no such thing as the perfect partner, only the perfect team, and you gotta live up to your end of the bargain before you'll ever find true love with another."
Not that we want to get too heavy on you, of course; it's probably best that you hear the magnificence for yourself.
Let Me Go Out In Style is released this Friday, 25 September, via Dot Dash/Remote Control Records. Go forth and pre-order.
