More Tired Lion More Tired Lion

PRETEND

Remember that really good friend you had when you were younger? I guess this one’s about the rapid decline of your relationship after they’ve discovered a comfortable way to escape reality. In a way you never really felt they were the same again, simply a stranger with a familiar face.

SUCK

I guess you can say this one is about the voluntary destruction of something by itself. AKA self-destruction — It’s about committing various self-damaging patterns that always seem to backfire and cause habitual self harm. At the time I was going through a pretty rough break up… In a way this song was the result of the crazy recklessness that came about after meeting someone who shared the same love for self-loathing.

I DON’T THINK YOU LIKE ME

Do you ever get that feeling someone really doesn’t like you but you’re not sure why? The lyrics in this song are pretty straight to the point and are fueled by exactly this. Maybe it’s a way to alienate ourselves or it could just be we’re all a little bit paranoid… This song was written at a time when we were all feeling tension in the jam room. We thought it would be a good idea to swap instruments (not our usual songwriting methods). No one will ever know who this one's about and I’d like to keep it that way.

FIGURINE

There’s only so long you can sweep things under the rug before they explode. Social anxiety and the inability to function like a normal human being in public places is the crux of this song. The toughest challenges of all are admitting you need help and accepting it.

DECEMBER

The combination of many things from childhood memories to analysing people in the street.
