Brisbane-bred outfit Hound are mere days away from the release of their eagerly awaited debut full-length, Dying In The Sun, but for those of you who can't possibly wait another second, theMusic.com.au is proud to exclusively bring you a full stream of the band's efforts ahead of the drop later this week.
Officially being released this Friday, 17 April, Dying In The Sun is a 10-track adventure of "lightly nihilistic" post-punk goodness, informed by eclectic influences from Killing Joke and The Cure to Neil Young and filtered through a uniquely Queensland-bred perspective.
In their efforts to encapsulate the feeling that permeated their days while the album was being put together — in their words, an "equally exciting, crushing and dynamic" time — the band conscripted renowned local Sean Cook to handle the technical side while Hound let themselves get creative, and the result is a ferocious, raw and yet refined effort from a band freshly coming into their own, from the opening strains of Waste The Day, through the personally tinged Gamekeeper, Something Else and God Is Calling, right through to the veiled politics of closer Fair Shake.
The band only just wrapped a launch tour for God Is Calling, their recent single, and so don't have immediate travel plans in the pipeline — but keep your eyes on theGuide and The Music App for future announcements as they come to light, because you can safely expect they'll be wanting to take the album to as many corners of the country as they can once it's out and free in the world.
