"It was like listening to Beyonce in space, with your eyes full of stars and your ears only being able to hear the highest of frequencies."
Walking into Newtown Social Club, the venue was filled more than ever before with keen punters. The room was packed to the brim as the support act played a set of background music to the chitter chatter of the crowd. On the cusp of Newtown Social's closure as a music venue, this gig almost felt as if it was a last hurrah for all electronic music fans.
The transition between the support act and Cosmo's Midnight was seamless - the music became louder and the background turned into a starry night, all senses were heightened as they began with an Eastern explosion.
The crowd went surprisingly wild for two Sydney boys who play ambient electronica. Shouts were overpowering the already loud drops and booms. Every sound proved hypnotising to the crowd.

The boys expressed how glad they were they were able to play Newtown Social before the venue closed because of lockouts. During Firefly every time a new drop hit it smashed the ground with a new vibration. Trapped, their soul-driven instrumental hit, continued this groove and got the audience amped up even higher with its '80s funk riff.
For History all the phones in the crowd shone bright as no one wanted to miss a moment. Half the crowd ended up on stage, trampling the boys and each other. They ended with a huge bang, dropping Walk With Me and creating a choir of voices that rang out throughout the venue, encouraging huge grins all 'round before they played an encore, a remix of Flume's Sleepless — sentimental, as it was the first song to cement them into the biz.
