Aussie pop princess shines on stage.

More Kylie Minogue More Kylie Minogue

Betty Who had the pleasure of warming the crowd up for Kylie Minogue tonight. Her presence was energetic as she bounced around during Heartbreak Dream and Runaways, the pixie-cut blonde sounding like the Australian indie-pop version of Katy Perry during her rendition of Somebody Loves You.

DJ set in hand, Italian producer Giorgio Moroder got the crowd dancing to his remixes of Donna Summer’s Love To Love You Baby and Hot Stuff, tracks he himself had produced for the late disco diva back in the day. Overcoming a few technical difficulties, he also treated the crowd to Daft Punk’s song, Giorgio By Moroder.

The anticipation was then built up with sounds and videos of Kylie Minogue, before the petite pop princess, dressed in red lingerie, appeared seductively, draped on a pair of giant red, glowing lips singing Les Sex.

Her dancers were equally provocatively dressed in tight black and white costumes, dancing along to In My Arms and Timebomb. Re-emerging dressed in a black and silver outfit, Kylie performed Step Back In Time, Spinning Around and Your Disco Needs You before inviting Moroder back on stage for the first live performance of Right Here, Right Now.

Some moments during songs Minogue’s voice quivered in the high notes. However, after a few songs that allowed her to warm up, Hand On Your Heart and I Should Be So Lucky proved amazing, with a Barbie-style setting featuring dancers with vacuum cleaners.

Returning dressed in a short leather jacket and cap, she delivered a beautiful rendition of Need You Tonight, a tribute to her former lover, INXS frontman Michael Hutchence. She got the crowd excited with Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and her Kids duet, her back-up singers covering Robbie Williams’ parts.

Surprisingly, the Arena was not at full capacity with the top section curtained off. Between the lights, alluring costumes and sensual performances, Kylie nonetheless shone, particularly with a heartfelt rendition of Tears On My Pillow, dedicated to her dad, who was in the crowd.

The Loco-Motion was an obvious crowd favourite, recalling for her memories of her 18 year-old self recording the demo and having her dreams come true, before jumping into All The Lovers, confetti filling the air. An encore of Into The Blue finished off the delightful night, Kylie decked out in a blue latex dress.
