Songs that seep into your body and bounce back as goosebumps

More Client Liaison More Client Liaison

Queue up, show your ticket, grab a drink and move around the cabin. There would be little time for standing still tonight with the second sold-out Sydney show of local boys Flight Facilities’ Down To Earth tour and their last in Australia.

Our first leg took us back to the ‘80s as Client Liaison, being Monte Morgan and Harvey Miller, delighted the expanding audience. Morgan and his impressive mullet dances like no one is watching while the dapper Miller moves between keys and drum pads with silent precision. They’re pure fun to watch and you couldn’t help but attempt your own dodgy dance moves as Morgan progressively disrobed out of his impressive (tight) outfit.

Following a short stopover, the cabin lights went down, the no smoking sign came on and the sounds of Intro brought James Lydell and Hugo Gruzman to the stage, dressed in their trademark pilot uniforms. The DJ desk, nestled within the illuminated FF logo, was to be the cockpit for the duo as they were joined on stage by Brooke Addamo (aka Owl Eyes), jumping straight into Two Bodies.

We were treated to turbulent hit after hit, expertly melded together by the pair, a combination of four years of singles plus their magnificent debut album. The angelic, yet sultry voice of Owl Eyes nailed every female vocal track, including a spine-tingling rendition of Clair De Lune. Also along for the journey was Kurt Kristen, covering the male vocals for With You, Hold Me Down and the penultimate song, Sunshine. His vocals don’t quite have the range to cover all tracks, but his retro dance moves make up for it.

Ultimately, the stars of this flight are Lydell and Gruzman for creating songs that seep into your body and bounce back as goosebumps. They truly have the gift of making people move, smile and love. Their final song on the whole tour has been the same on all stops, but on this special occasion we were treated to the real deal. John Paul Young came to the stage to rapturous applause for his most famous hit, Love Is In The Air. We were in the air, floating amongst the clouds surrounded by the love.
