More Hideous Sun Demon More Hideous Sun Demon

Hideous Sun Demon are very much in the grand tradition of Perth punk bands, featuring a restless combination of garage, adverse psychedelics and pure energy.

The band's performance on Ssppuunnkk is so unhinged, you can pretty much picture them trashing wildly ' round the studio oblivious to risk of injury. Idiotic Dream features some of their punchiest lyrics as a manifesto against mindless consumerism with lines such as "There is no weight in what you're selling, it's void of all integrity". In a similar vein, Crap Revelations and Rcb!!! are built on disillusioned spoken word rants over some unexpectedly groovy material. One of the very few missteps though is the sometimes over the top reverb, which tends to bleed the instruments into each other, creating one almighty maelstrom of swirling sound. The band live are just as hard-hitting without it.

But all up, Fame Erotic Dream is an implosive set full of psychotic shout-a-long choruses.
