Album Review: Tricky - Ununiform

"Tricky comes across as vulnerable and lost in reflection."

Thirteen albums deep, Tricky offers up this collection of slow-burning joints that sink deep into introspection.

The skies are still dark and brooding but rather than instilling an alarming sense of foreboding that something sinister is afoot, Tricky comes across as vulnerable and lost in reflection. The Only Way feels like a wonky cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps as Tricky pines away for lost love. When We Die is a collaboration with Martina Topley-Bird, their first in 15 years, and it's a dreamy reflection on the past. A collab with Avalon Lurks on Doll rounds off this rather wistful album.
