"The production is slick and the ambition commendable."

More Foxygen More Foxygen

Foxygen's follow-up to the ultra indulgent ...And Star Power is their version of Silverchair's Diorama; think operatic cinema, with nods to The Muppets, Frank Zappa and Meatloaf.

Sam France and Jonathan Rado continue to sate the demand for middle class indie-pop, complete with Steven Drozd (of The Flaming Lips fame), a big band and orchestra. Follow The Leader is a standout track, but not indicative of the type of record this is, which at times feels over-stuffed with ideas and influences (see: On Lankershim and Rise Up). However, the production is slick and the ambition commendable, particularly given these could be viewed by many as the band's twilight years.
