"It's still 3-0 for the retro superstar."
Whereas Bruno Mars' previous records would bounce from reggae to rock to acoustic tracks, his latest album, 24K Magic adheres to an overall aesthetic a bit more: '80s electro and '90s slow-jams in the style of Boyz II Men and old-school R Kelly.
The only thing that's missing are the huge choruses, and nothing here even comes close to Treasure, let alone Uptown Funk (which was, of course, Mark Ronson's song, not Mars'). In the end, it's still 3-0 for the retro superstar.
