"He can do better whilst fucking around on vacation in Mexico than some can do with months in the studio."

Part film score and part vintage electro pop; Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's Weekly Mansions shows that he can do better whilst fucking around on vacation in Mexico than some can do with months in the studio.

Essential Punishments is a harsh array of drum machines, while Sciences Urges and Sophia As Well use beats produced from the ground up, sounding akin to The Black Queen. A Little Old Picnic In Fort Collins is a true gem, channelling some Art Vs. Science weirdness. Weekly Mansions may not be the most challenging solo record from Lopez this year, but it is lots of fun!
