"Indie-electronica sass."
It's easy to get lost in Three, the latest from New York duo Phantogram.
The indie-electronica sass that Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter have developed since 2014's Voices is distinctly theirs, immediately likeable and sonically interesting. Barthel's razor-sharp but soulful vocals touch the rafters on single You Don't Get Me High Anymore, then dip and weave in the key-riddled Cruel World. It's hard not to love a smooth R&B beat in You're Mine and Run Run Blood, or the textural atmospherics of Funeral Pyre and Destroyer. Three is an immersive listen to be had again and again.
