"'The King Of Whys' traverses a well worn path of reflective angst and love, but Kinsella proves himself as good as any in walking it."

Mike Kinsella, the brains trust behind Owen, has been making music — and generally leading the Chicago music scene — for the past 20 years, earning a reputation as a quintessential singer-songwriter type through outfits like thoughtful early '00s rockers American Football. For The King Of Whys he has recruited musicians from across the state of Wisconsin (where the album was recorded) to complement his acoustic musings, in the process crafting a delicate collection of ten songs. The King Of Whys traverses a well worn path of reflective angst and love, but Kinsella proves himself as good as any in walking it.
