Album Review: Plaid - The Digging Remedy

"Plaid have lost none of their creative instincts even after all these years."

Having existed in one form or another since the late '80s, the elder, elder statesmen of electronica return once again with their singular sense of melody.

Psychedelic folkie Benet Walsh expands Plaid's otherwise electronic sound palette with flute and guitar, notably on the sly grooves of Melifer and Wen. Clock, in particular its intro, which sounds like a classic trance riff played through a child's music box, is one of their quirkiest and most charming compositions, confirming that Plaid have lost none of their creative instincts even after all these years.
