"The equal potential for a sonic disaster or a piece of unmitigated genius is almost as exciting as actually listening to the music."
With a musical nutbag like Les Claypool of Primus teaming up with an audio mad scientist like Sean Lennon, just thinking about the equal potential for a sonic disaster or a piece of unmitigated genius is almost as exciting as actually listening to the music.
When Lennon is on the mic, his influence is clear and welcome. But the voice and bass work of Claypool is just too strong and too recognisable to ever be mistaken for anything else. For better or worse, The Claypool Lennon Delirium and Monolith Of Phobos comes across as more of a Les Claypool side project than a true Claypool/Lennon collaboration.
