"Melvins reconvene for Basses Loaded, an album that features six, yes six, bass players."
After Buzz Osborne's recent side project as one of musicdom's unlikeliest solo acoustic acts, the abnormally heavy Melvins reconvene for Basses Loaded, an album that features six, yes six, bass players.
To anyone without the sharpest muso ears, it's hard to identify here when one bass man picks up from another, but there are numerous pluses, such as the gruesome audio mudslide of Beer Hippie and brutishly swampy Phyllis Dillard. There are also some failed comedy attempts, including Shaving Cream, which might be the worst song in the band's 25-album career.
