"The riffs are brutal, the allusions to D-grade slasher flicks are abundant."

More Rob Zombie More Rob Zombie

Now well into middle age, Rob Zombie has made a decades-long career in music and film out of the horror and slasher obsessions usually left behind with pimples and multi-sided dice once a person is old enough to buy booze.

His complete commitment to that aesthetic continues with this new album. The riffs are brutal, the allusions to D-grade slasher flicks are abundant and there's no joke to be in on. A Rob Zombie record isn't a tribute to horror and gore, it's just another addition to the ever-expanding world he's been building all these years through his songs and movies.
