Collaborations with Brian Eno and Karl Hyde (Underworld) alongside support slots for Deftones and Dillinger Escape Plan explains the gloss, precision and tenacious temerity that exudes from the title track, the gossamer brutalism of Kraken and the 8-bit muscularity of Engrams. Straddling Vangelis' synthetic egotism, Eno's esotericism and the machine-fire percussive dexterity of Battles, Silent Earthling is a luscious monstrosity not of this, or any, world.
