"It appears less innovative than Clark's finest achievements."
A re-edited and refurbished version of Clark's soundtrack to the crime thriller of the same name, The Last Panthers is in Clark's words "a continuous slab of liquid melancholy".
It's a feeling that's prominent in the glacial beauty of the opener Back To Belgrade, infused as it is with a subtle, sinister quality that returns numerous times throughout. Despite having been reworked from 60 or so smaller pieces, The Last Panthers makes for a cohesive whole, but, perhaps due to being a commissioned work, it appears less innovative than Clark's finest achievements.
