Album Review: Lissie - My Wild West

On Lissie's third album, the California girl rolls down the car windows, turns up the radio, and says goodbye to all that.

She's headed back to the Midwest after giving the Golden State her all, but regrets are minimal on this cracking album. She couples a natural ease and clarity in writing with a sound of modern Americana. The title track builds, adding vocals and sonic layers as she nonchalantly assures us, "I'll be fine, fine." Daughters is no-BS girl power and guitars. Ojai is a nostalgic closer. Albums on this theme have been made before, but here is a refreshing and liberating update.
