Album Review: Yorkston/Thorne/Khan - Everything Sacred

Scottish folkie James Yorkston, who's previously worked with Four Tet and Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, flexes his exotic fusion credentials here by teaming up with Jon Thorne on double bass and Suhail Yusuf Khan on an Indian sarangi.

The chemistry between the protagonists is pretty convincing, but most of the lyrics sound as if they were made up on the spot. While a bit of spontaneity is usually a good thing, Yorkston seems like he's fighting his way out of paper bag at times. Everything sacred maybe? Nothing essential more like.
